Roof Edge Detail for ACM & Composite Wall Panels
Keep the wrap-around panel look at the parapet — without the panel installer fastening through a brand-new roof.
The parapet is where the wall panel and the roof collide
Aluminum composite (ACM) and metal composite (MCM) panels are often wrapped over the top of the parapet so the facade reads as one clean volume. The typical way to do that puts the panel installer on top of a finished roof, fastening panel clips, girts or coping cleats through the membrane the roofer just installed.
Typical panel-wrapped parapet
- Panel attachment fastened through the new roof membrane
- Panel-fabricated coping the roofing manufacturer didn’t furnish
- Panel crew working on top of the finished roof
- Unclear responsibility when the edge leaks
With PanelPlate
- Keeps the wrap-around panel look the architect designed
- PanelPlate Mini brackets flashed in by the roofer
- Panels secured to the brackets — not through the membrane
- Each trade stays in its own lane
How the PanelPlate roof edge detail works
The roofer installs and flashes the PanelPlate Mini brackets at the roof edge as part of the roofing work. Once the roof is complete, the wall panel installer secures the top course of composite panels to the brackets. The panel wraps the parapet exactly as drawn, and the roof membrane is never used as a nailer for the panel system.

Compatible with the panels you already specify
PanelPlate is compatible with ACM, MCM and plate aluminum panel systems, including ALUCOBOND®, ALPOLIC®, Reynobond®, Alcotex, PAC-CLAD® and DRI-DESIGN®. Pick the panel and color from the manufacturer’s color chart as usual — PanelPlate handles the roof edge.
Why the roof edge detail matters
The perimeter takes the highest wind loads on a low-slope roof, and it’s where most roof failures start. The IBC (Section 1504.5) requires low-slope roof edge securement to be tested to ANSI/SPRI ES-1, and many roof warranties exclude edge metal the roofing manufacturer didn’t furnish or changes made to the roof after it’s complete. Proven on real projects
PanelPlate is installed on schools, colleges, an airport, a police station, health care and commercial buildings — including ACM panels at Kenmore Police with PanelPlate Mini. See the project gallery →
